Life is a Buffet of Choices, I'm just here for the Food

Post Numero Dos!

A few members of the office have started a tradition of taking their Friday lunch breaks at various buffet style restaurants around Corvallis. Most range between seven to twelve dollars per person, not including a drink. Now for those of you who have been living under a rock and never perused a buffet style restaurant, let me remind you, it is a place where the food is UNLIMITED. You pay the buffet price and can eat to your heart's content limited only by the size of your stomach.

(My terrible rendition of what a stomach looks like!)

Get the reference?? Comment with this character's name!

Back to Buffets-

So, we naturally came to a discussion of the cost/benefit relationships that buffet style restaurants have. The overarching question is, "How does one get the MOST for their money at a Buffet?"

And we each had different opinions (naturally- they are opinions after all!)

My idea of how to get the most for your money is to eat your fill (but not too much!) by sampling every single thing in the whole buffet that tickles your fancy or looks interesting, then top it off by going back for seconds of your favorites.

Deion, resident office jokester, claims that the best way to get the most for your money is to eat an absolutely obscene amount of food. Just today, he ate TWENTY FOUR pieces of sushi in addition to two or three plates of food in order to ensure he got what he paid for.

THAT'S RIGHT- 24 Pieces!!!

And finally, Matt, another office prankster always in cahoots with Deion weighed in (figuratively ;) and claimed that the best way to get the most for your money is a combination of eating at least the dollar amount you paid in food AND enjoying the atmosphere of a buffet. He prefers places with multiple televisions and good company. Last week, he made a 12-inch tall soft serve ice cream cone at the buffet, and to a group of elderly men seated nearby's collective delight, proceeded to attack it head on!

Imagine this....but twice as tall and far less colorful!

Everyone has their own idea about how to have a good time at a Buffet and how to get the most for their money. Comment below with your Buffet-Attack-Plan or just to discuss your favorite Buffet-Style restaurants!

Starting a Blog!

The Underwater Audio Food and Restaurant Blog

Hi All!

This is a side project blog we are getting started here at Underwater Audio both for inter-department fun and to share/gather opinions with the general public.

Instead of our usual aquatic blogs and posts, this blog is exclusively for topics of food and restaurants.

We've got food on our minds!
(Don't worry- this is just a red onion that looks like a brain)

We won't even exclusively be relating it to swimming or a healthy lifestyle! But don't fear, we will probably have a few features about those topics.

The story of how this blog came to be is the feature of this first post- it's pretty funny!

The staff here at Underwater Audio were in our weekly staff meeting on 4/10/14 and learning about the insurance law changes going on in our beautiful state of Oregon and how to best deal with them from two insurance agents.

Seriously though- Insurance is crazy important! Reminder plug to check your policies and upcoming changes with the Affordable Care Act (not a topic we will discuss *sigh of relief*)

The agents, bless their hearts, had brought sandwich sampler trays for us to snack on after the meeting. They were delicious (my opinion) and we started talking about where they were from.

The sandwiches were made by Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches (copyrighted).

This instantly led to a debate that every person who has ever eaten a sandwich knows.....Subway VS Jimmy John's!

Him:             "I want subway......"
Her:      "JIMMY JOOOHHN'S"

After an inter-department brawl (verbal of course) one of the Company's co-founders and co-CEO's asked for a volunteer to start a food and restaurant blog (and offered 1-hour of company time to get it started!) to crowd source opinions on this matter and other food-related disagreements.

Which brings us back to here!

So! For the first post, I'm asking which sandwich chain holds the key to your sandwich preferences and why! Jimmy John's? or Subway? Got a different favorite? Add them as a contender!

Comment or otherwise contact us below if you have an opinion or a request for any future posts!

Thanks for reading, look forward to our next post as this will likely be a weekly edition!
